Removing Mold

In some cases removing mold is very simple and in other cases it can be quite challenging and downright dangerous.  We help you decide what category and what level of risk is likely in your specific case.

Simple, small scale/common mold removal is often performed by a homeowner or tenant when there is literally a very small quantity of visible mold and no truly significant moisture event has taken place.  This can be your common bathroom mold, whether it be on the shower ceiling or beneath the sink, or it could be your common closet mold (mold loves the back of dark closets).

The same exposure to healthy individual may be very different to those with allergies, immune system compromises or other health issues or recent exposures as determined by your physician or other medical professional.  If necessary we work with physicians that specialize in areas of medicine to ensure an integrated approach that is best for you. 

All authorities agree that mold testing is normally not necessary.  Fact is we often talk our clients out of sampling for mold because the net result is the same and why spend the money for a report containing a lot of Latin names most of which are still under research with little significant conclusions you can apply here and now.  However, unmitigated mold growth is not desirable for many obvious reasons including potential building deterioration, health implications, and general well being.  Dare we say with so much concern about public health and virus loads potentially and unknowingly attacking us, who needs to be taxed with yet another contaminant potentially wearing us down (as me for my personal story). 

Authorities agree large quantities of visible mold should always be left for a professional.  Moreover, a qualified person will be careful not to inject mold from one place to another in their assessment .

We are here for you when you need us for skilled and competent evaluation which includes the initial scope of work recommended for remediation to take place.  Very importantly, the mold assessor and remediator cannot be the same company to avoid a conflict of interest.  So we will never get involved in remediation but will assist you in your search to some degree if desired.  But we make no recommendations of one company over another.  However, once the remediation is over, we will compare and give a “clearance” to give you peace of mind that conditions are, hopefully, more favorable than before the remediation.  This is a low cost follow-up as warranted and is part of the industry.

.There are many mold “standards” and protocols all of which we masterfully utilize,  To be helpful, people often ask about the law so please know the 2018 468.8411 Florida Statute, among other things, states: …..

(2) “Mold” means an organism of the class fungi that causes disintegration of
organic matter and produces spores, and includes any spores, hyphae, and
mycotoxins produced by mold.
(3) “Mold assessment” means a process performed by a mold assessor that includes
the physical sampling and detailed evaluation of data obtained from a
building history and inspection to formulate an initial hypothesis about
the origin, identity, location, and extent of amplification of mold
growth of greater than 10 square feet.
(4) “Mold assessor” means any person who performs or directly supervises a mold assessment.
(5) “Mold remediation” means the removal, cleaning, sanitizing, demolition, or
other treatment, including preventive activities, of mold or
mold-contaminated matter of greater than 10 square feet that was not
purposely grown at that location; however, such removal, cleaning,
sanitizing, demolition, or other treatment, including preventive
activities, may not be work that requires a license under chapter 489
unless performed by a person who is licensed under that chapter or the
work complies with that chapter.
(6) “Mold remediator” means any person who performs mold remediation. A mold
remediator may not perform any work that requires a license under
chapter 489 unless the mold remediator is also licensed under that
chapter or complies with that chapter.
